POLICIES
DRESS CODE Comfortable play clothes are recommended -- ones that can be easily pulled up and down for "quick
trips to the bathroom", and ones that can easily be washed since, no matter how careful we try to be, paints, markers and snacks sometimes get on them!
Well-fitting shoes are needed for jumping, walking, skipping, and running.
ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE Please do not drop your child off before 8:15 am or 12:30 pm. If an emergency arises and you will be
late in picking up your child, please notify us. Please inform the teacher if someone other than the parent will be picking up the child.
ABSENCES OR ILLNESS Please use good judgment and keep your child at home if he/she shows signs of the following:
A. Eyes, ears, or throat inflamed or have discharge
B. Signs of a fresh cold, such as running nose or temperature C. Skin rash or eruption
D. General appearance of listlessness, irritability, flushed or pale
Since this may be your child's first exposure to a school setting, you may feel they are "picking up" every
little bug that is going around. Rest assured, we have good health habits at Zion and are learning to wash hands, cover our sneezes, etc., but often this is a time for building up our immunities for the
following school years.
Please contact the church office (223-8286) should your child be sick or unable to attend.
SPECIAL NEEDS Zion Preschool is not equipped/staffed to handle non-abulatory students.

once a month for the entire class. (Examples: fruit, crackers, cheese, applesauce, trail mix, peanut butter 1/4 sandwiches, granola bars, yogurt, etc.) A snack schedule should come home with your child
several days prior to the new month. NO CUPCAKES, BIRTHDAY CAKES OR SHEET CAKES PLEASE!

PHILOSOPHY
At Zion Lutheran Preschool we feel our mission is to "make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 20:19),
that all "might have life, and have it abundantly" (John 10:10), as they trust in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.
Our goal, then, is to provide experiences that will make your child feel secure, confident, and loved. We
will help your child to grow in wonder, awareness and self-discovery, all within a Christian atmosphere.
OBJECTIVES The role of Zion Lutheran Preschool is to satisfy the needs of children in these areas:
I. The need to trust: A. God's will in all situations B. His/her parents
C. His/her teachers D. Others
II. The need to explore: A. His/her senses
B. His/her vocabulary C. His/her capabilities D. His/her environment
E. His/her creative abilities
III. The need to love others: A. Sharing
B. Taking turns C. Respecting
In acknowledging these needs, Zion will provide your child with an atmosphere of consistency and
gentle discipline. Your child will develop an interest and joy in learning and a feeling of success, security and responsibility.
END RESULT
Play is your child's work. Much of his sensory-motor play is preparation for later cognitive
development. For example, in stacking blocks he learns about spatial relationships, balance and gravity. In short, Zion can open your child's awareness of God's world and stimulate his
inquisitiveness. It can help him accept himself as he is, a special and unique child of God!
